Positive Directions is a recognized leader in developing effective addiction and substance abuse prevention programs that respond to the needs of the individuals, families and communities we serve.

Raising children in today's world is an extremely challenging task. Recent national research has clearly demonstrated that young people and teens growing up in a supportive and value-nurturing environment are more likely to make positive choices when it comes to avoiding drug and substance abuse. Potentially damaging risky behavior can be avoided in families that have developed effective means of communication and trusting relationships that create expectations of success that children will make the right choices.

Our professionally trained and certified counseling staff provides the most recent, research-proven programs designed to build resiliency and life skills in youth and parenting and family management skills in adults.

With over thirty years of prevention experience, Positive Directions has an established reputation for developing innovative programming and effective partnerships with community leaders, school districts and other community-based agencies that create increased awareness of the dangers of drug and substance abuse.

Effective community-based prevention programs are built on participation and involvement. In addition to the custom designed workshops Positive Directions offers to youth and adults, our counselors also train volunteer facilitators to implement parenting and youth programs within their own constituencies. The facilitators are provided with the curriculum and technical support which enable them to effectively deliver the benefits of prevention programs in their own communities or school districts.
