Positive Directions is now accepting registrations for the school year 2008/2009 session of its popular First Years parenting program.  Organized playgroups for one to two year olds and two to three year olds are scheduled for Friday mornings, October 3 through May 29, at the Parent/Child Center on Hillspoint Road in Westport.

First Years is designed to increase parental knowledge of early childhood development and to take advantage of the child’s potential and capacity to discover and learn.  In addition to engaging the child in developmental activities, First Years provides new parents with the opportunities to meet one another, exchange information and to share experiences. 

The 10 week sessions will led by certified parent educator Mary Ann Weverbergh who has been facilitating parent education programs for more than fifteen years.  The one to two year old group will meet on Friday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. and the two to three year old group will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

As the playgroups are designed to encourage the full participation of each individual child, registration is limited.  The cost for the 29 week program is $300.  Scholarships are available and confidential.  For additional information and to register, please call Positive Directions at 203-227-7644.  First Years is funded by the Westport-Weston United Way and Positive Directions.
