How do we help our children to make safe and responsible decisions?
Statistics point to the need for programs that begin early and involve those people whom children listen to best - their parents!
The nationally acclaimed "Creating Lasting Family Connections" (CLFC) parenting programs guides and empowers elementary and middle school parents to maintain safe and healthy environments for their children. CLFC helps parents learn effective approaches to preventing risky behaviors, raising resilient children and enhancing family relationships.
This award winning parenting program is a structured opportunity for families to improve their ability to provide young people with the skills they need to be successful in today's world. CLFC helps parents learn effective approaches to preventing risky behaviors, raising resilient children and enhancing family relationships.
The program is composed of three different training modules. Each module runs for 5 week. Each module stands alone and parents do not have to commit to all three modules.
Modules include:
Developing Positive Parental Influences Participants can expect to develop a greater awareness of chemical use, abuse, and dependency; to review effective approaches to prevention; to develop an understanding of intervention, referral procedures, and treatment options. Participants examine their attitudes regarding alcohol and drug issues, take an in-depth look at the dynamics of chemical dependency, the affects on families, and effective prevention approaches.
Raising Resilient Youth This module helps parents to foster and develop an effective atmosphere that facilitates healthy relationships. Participants examine effective parenting skills, practice communication and interaction skills including expressing feelings, listening, and non-judgmental acceptance of others. Parents are also trained to develop effective methods for expressing clear expectations and consequences with their children.
Getting Real This is a highly interactive training module offered to parents interested in enhancing their relationships by examining their responses to the verbal and non-verbal behavior they experience in their interactions with others.
