Youth Initiatives

Engaging young people in meaningful ways is a core facet of successful and sustainable prevention work. Through our coalition building work, we create opportunities for on-going youth engagement. We do intense youth engagement through community partnerships in Westport, Fairfield, and Norwalk.

Our program goals are:

  • To create emotionally healthy and supportive environments for our youth
  • To encourage healthy relationships for youth with both adults and their peers
  • To communicate information and effective strategies to local youth BEFORE they are involved with alcohol, drugs or other destructive behavior and to teach skills of responsible decision-making.
  • To educate parents about the substances in our community and the legal, social and health consequences of their use.
  • To build the capacity of the community to prevent and treat substance abuse.
